Hello hello and welcome back to another Fun Friday!
Today's card is..well...FUN!
I have been indulging myself in every type of interactive card style I can think of lately. They are just too much fun and so much more entertaining than just a flat card.
But I honestly have been scared of the magic slider style...the way I always saw this growing up was that the part you pull out of the card front actually has both the acetate and the colored image attached to it. So it always made me so nervous to think about how to keep those images lined up properly so they didn't look silly when they were pulled out of the card. And then all the wonderful examples started showing up where the images weren't on the slider, but right on the card! How easy! So I gave it a shot! :)
Isn't this wonderful! So I totally meant to have the slider go out the side...but I got caught up in just making the card that it completely slipped my mind. But it's okay because it still looks fabulous being a top slider!
I've used the With You image that is just so precious and created a dark watery background for this couple using some Distress Oxide colors. I am in love with how Faded Jeans and Cracked Pistachio blend...it's just the perfect combo!
I made sure to do both the background card base and the slider insert in the same colors so that it is all seamless when the card isn't slid open. But on the card base background, I stamped and white heat embossed a few heart clusters to mimic falling rain around the couple. Yellow seemed like a nice fitting color for the umbrella, and I kept the rest of the colors in the couple pretty simple to coordinate with the colors I used on the background.
A simple sentiment banner finished off the whole card perfectly!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous weekend! <3
Hello! Rae Ann here and I have some inspiration for this Fun Friday that involves a little fun in the sun. I chose to use A Friend From the Sea for my project. We live in the south near the water, so sea creatures are always around for us to look at.
I thought this sweet girl and her new friend were so adorable. I colored them using Copic markers and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut them out. I used some torn paper to create sand and the background is a paper from Bo Bunny that I got digitally from Snap Click Supply. I absolutely love that site and One Buck Wednesday is my favorite day of the week! I cut the sun from the panel and layered it because I had to adjust the panel to fit the card.
The theme of the challenge this month is to add something glossy or shiny. Since I didn't think the sun was shiny enough, I added a metal crab charm for a bit of shine. There isn't much time left, so if you have something shiny to add to a Sami Stamps project, grab it now and link it up!
Hello and welcome back to another Fun Friday here at Sami Stamps!
I'm here to share a bright, fun watercolored card.
Watercolor can be quite intimidated for some if you don't have much experience with it. I know I struggle with it...a lot. But it doesn't have to be so scary. The beauty of watercolor is its freedom. There doesn't have to be an exactly correct way to use it. Don't be afraid to experiment, use different materials and styles and find something that really fits who you are.
One of my favorite ways to use watercolor is for a very loose splashy background. So that is where I started for today's card.
I stamped the background with a fun swirl design and then clear embossed it so that my watercolors would fill in those gaps and make the pattern pop.
Then I just dropped my color onto the paper. I used a couple of blues and greens which are perfect to pair together since they don't create mud when they mix. While that dried, I splattered little bits of water and shimmer over it to create different patterns and texture.
After setting that aside, I started to work on my Ladybug Waterlily image. I really wanted this to be a white waterlily, but white is never just white. So I chose a grey color that was slightly blue and a little green and added it to just the shadow parts of my image, making sure to blend it out to white towards the tips of the petals.
Waterlilies usually have yellow centers, but since there wasn't really any center to this image, I decided to add the suggestion of yellow in the center by adding just a touch of it to the inside edges of a few petals, again softening it out to white.
Once my background was dry, I took an iron to it to remove all the clear embossing powder. I wanted to keep the swirl design but didn't want the shine of the powder so taking a hot iron to it (using a piece of printer paper on top to catch all the embossing powder) will remove whats there and leave a nice mat surface behind.
I trimmed out my waterlily, cut out a sentiment banner and mounted it all onto my card base.
The finishing touch was few clear droplets to go along with the water theme of the card.
Add a little fun to your Father's Day cards with an action wobble!!
Rae Ann Beyerl Sami Stamps image - With You I inverted the colors so the image lines would print white on a black background so it would fit an inspiration photo. The umbrella, skirt, and shoes were paper pieced since I really couldn't color the image
Hello Sami Stamps fans! Rae Ann here to bring you this week's Fun Friday post. I am using one of the newest releases, Roses Under the Sea. You can find her in the shop with her sister, Flowers Under the Sea.
She was colored with Copic markers and I used the Silhouette to cut her out. I kept the background pretty tone on tone to make it look like she was under water.
You still have time to enter our challenge. The theme this month is to use flowers and this image is perfect for the challenge! You have to use a Sami Stamps image to enter, but you can usually find a freebie in the shop.
If you are on Facebook, pop in to the Sami Stamps group and share your creations with us. We would love to see them!
Joining us today as a guest designer we have our winner from Sami Stamps Challenge #48
"Hello my name is Diane Louise and I am delighted to be invited to be a guest
designer for May’s Showcase posting here at Sami Stamps.
I would like to say thank you very much to Sami
for giving me this beautiful mermaid digital stamp for me to use.I really enjoyed making my card and joining
Sami’s design team.
Here’s a little bit about me – I live in the
North West of England with my lovely Hubby and 2 fabulous grown up children,
along with our beautiful big bundle of gorgeousness, Mutley, our black Labrador
dog, who brings so much fun to our household.
I have been paper crafting since 1998 when a
friend introduced me to the world of decoupage; I fell in love with card making
and very quickly became addicted to my hobby... The best thing though was
opening my Blog called ‘Diane Louise's Favourite
Cards & Gifts’ and finding
Blogland and challenge blogs, which inspired me to try new techniques and
styles of cards. I have made so many lovely crafty friends along the way.
And as always, the design team has put together some beautiful inspiration for this month's release!
